The show also sometimes glossed over the seriousness of the surgeries. Although they appeared to be done in one day, in actuality, facial and body surgeries were performed in separate sessions about three weeks apart. “If a patient had major face work and major body work, we split them into two stages,” says Dr. Terry J. Dubrow, who, with Dr. Randal Haworth, was on The Swan’s cosmetic-surgery dream team. “We are board certified plastic surgeons. We’re not going to do something stupid, particularly when it’s on national television, you know what I mean? Safety was absolutely a No. 1 factor.”

Nor, they say, did they foist any unwanted surgeries on their patients. “One of the criticisms that was levied against the show, too, was that we would just do these surgeries with these patients not comprehending what they were getting into,” says Haworth. “In fact, most of the patients came in knowing that they had a certain physical complaint such as their nose. The afterward, they would say, ‘Well, Doc, what else would you do to make me look better?’ So then I would look at them, analyze them and offer them a game plan.”

The Swan’s ‘Dream Team’

While the Swans got thinner, what got fatter? The appointment book of most of the show’s docs and experts. “My personal-training business has quadrupled,” says Greg Comeaux. “I’m getting book offers, I’m getting call from everywhere,” Dr. Terry J. Dubrow agrees. Pre-Swan, he says, “If you wanted to come see me for your face or your breasts, I didn’t have any open appointments for three months; now I don’t have any for six months.” Not to mention the fame factor, “It is interesting,” he admits, “when the patients come in and I say, ‘Hi, I’m Dr. Terry Dubrow,’ They go, ‘Yeah, I know’.” Still, as fellow surgeon Dr. Randal Haworth observes, “I’ve only got two hands, so it doesn’t mean I can put more money in the bank.” Though Haworth’s waiting list has increased to nice months, “if I do a face-lift, I can only do one full facial rejuvenation in a day,” he says. “I know some people who do four to five to six because they take shortcuts. Not all surgery is the same.” But Swan team member Lynn Ianni, a therapist, has yet to see her business benefit: “It’s had very little effect on my practice. It hasn’t increased my patient load.” Maybe business will pick up with Swan 2.

We’ve all seen the: collagen-blasted lips that look like Donald Duck after a late night fist fight. Too often, women seeking a fuller, poutier mouth go overboard with the collagen injections and look more enraged than enhanced. The shelf-like lip projection and bloated overhand achieved through traditional collagen injections are the stuff of talk show jokes and behind-her-back snickers. More and more women want a luscious bee-stung look but get a result that’s more silly than sexy. When collagen is injected without regard to the individual mouth shape, the result can be less appealing.

To the rescue is Aesthetic and Reconstructive Plastic Surgeon Dr. Randal Haworth, who understands that lip augmentation is more than simply sticking stuff under the skin. Haworth takes into account a number of factors: whether an upper lip is too long, or lips are inverted, or if lips are just too thin. Haworth will inject lips, but it’s usually with a transfer of fat from the lower abdomen, which allows for more sophisticated and exact injection capabilities. Fat transfer causes less post-procedural swelling and a less phony effect.

What Haworth, who is a board-certified Plastic Surgeon, can give lips is more of a put than a phony pump. “The ideal youthful smile is one with plump lips, slightly parted, and about three millimeters of upper teeth showing-it’s a very vibrant, very fertile look,” he explains.

Best Eyes The verdict is in: Jude Law’s eyes rule. “His eyes have a nice fold to them, and they will age well,” says Dr. Randal Haworth of The Swan. “His upper eyelids are not too heavy or too feminine, and he’s got a nice shape to his eyes. Best Lips “Brad Pitt has the perfect balance between the lips. His lower lip has a nice protuberance, while his upper lip is narrower,” says Dr. Haworth. “Men with lips that are too full indicate less of an IQ to the average person, but thin lips indicate coldness.” Best Cheeks Johnny Depp makes “edgy” acting choices, and that same word applies to his face. “He’s got a catlike, pushing-the-envelope quality,” says Dr. Haworth. “He has a model look in terms of the way his facial skeleton is constructed, but it also has interest.” Best Chin Former model Ashton Kutcher’s chin is in high demand! “A lot of patients ask for his chin,” reveals Dr. Haworth. “It’s classically proportioned, strong, masculine chin. It’s not cartoony and it balances the rest of his facial features.

He’s one of the sexiest men on the planet, but Brad’s skin used to be the pits. “Brad had very bad acne scarring,” says The Swan’s Dr. Randal Haworth, who notes that the 40-year-old’s skin is looking a lot smoother lately. “He may be using laser resurfacing to get rid of his acne scars,” suggest Dr. Ourian. “I think the only reason he gets this done is because of Jennifer Aniston-she keeps her skin maintained and wants him perfect, too!” Dr. Frank disagrees: “I don’t think Brad has filled in his acne pits,” he says. “I think it’s all lighting and makeup.
